This painting is part of a series of paintings I was doing about Zuni fetishes. The Zuni Indians believe the spirit of the animal is in the carved stone. Birds take your prayers to God. I am showing the animal comming to life from the stone. I did 4 others the mt. lion, bear, horse and buffalo.
